Efficient and parts stingy - eliminates need for output resistors and complex control circuitry. The LM3914 operates from a power supplies of 3VDC or less upto 25VDC, and with ±3 volts to ±35 volts inputs. These very versatile LM3914-type display drivers illuminate the kinds of varying-length LED displays (or low-current incandescent lamps, LCD displays or vacuum fluorescent displays, and are also both TTL and CMOS compatible). LM3914 ICs are commonly used to visually display audio sound volumes, scanner signal strengths, detector signal strengths, analog meter voltage levels, visual alarms, scale readings, and for controlling sequencers, programmers, staging control systems, etc. All outputs are individual current regulated up to 30ma, and open collector (1,365 mW max total dissipation). These LM3914N ICs can be daisy-chained to illuminate up to 100 segments, and by daisy-chaining two LM3914, you can use the outputs as a zero-voltage meter. They can also be used with both modular LED bar displays (LED bargraph displays) and LED dot displays (e.g. Kingbright SL555, Kingbright SL556, Kingbright SL557), and with individual LEDs of any color or mixed colors you want. LM3914 outputs may be wired to more than one device, for example, to both an LED and a transistor. By buffering the outputs with transistors, these LM3914 ICs can also be used to drive other much higher loads as well, such as relays, solenoids, lamps, bells and other sounders, heater elements, igniters, etc. Easy to use, and efficiently uses circuit board space.

Of its many powerful features, what makes the LM3914 so special is that you can select its display mode, and even dynamically switch between display modes: Dot Mode or Bargraph Mode (Pin #9). In Dot Mode, ONLY the output which corresponds with the input voltage range that activates it is activated. Great for selecting one and only one output function at a time. In the Bar Mode, not only is this output activated but also all outputs which are activated at lower voltages. Great for visualizing output levels and changes, such as music volume levels.

Used big convex lens. This clear glass lens is 4-1/2" x 6-3/4", and about 3/4" thick in center (1/8" on edges)". Magnification appears to be about 3X. Salvaged from a photocopier. There are a few minor scratches and dings on the lens but these can probably be polished off with pumice or machinist rouge while you are watching TV or something. As is, the lens is mediocre for constant reading applications, but works great as a sun focuser.

These items are hinged so that the top part lifts above the bottom part; you then put your photo negative between the posts of the bottom part, then close the top part back down to press on the negative so the negative is flat and locked into place. Cut-outs are 1-1/8" x 1-1/8", 2-1/4" x 2-1/4", and 2-1/4" x 3-1/4", and each comes in its original Beseler box (not shown).

Used and in very good condition. Rare, very high quality metal construction with faceted type bezel glass. The left image shows what the two colors are when a light shows through them. The right image shows what they look like on their sides and bottoms. They are threaded at the base, and they require a 9/16" round hole. These were salvaged from very expensive military equipment. Used and worksfine. This strobe is in a heavy duty steel chassis case, similar to the types of chassis and cases that HP and Tektronix builds their very high quality electronic test equipment into. The device is not labeled (no boilerplate), and we don't know who makes it or for what purposes it was made (when we bought it a few years ago, we was told that it originally came from Sandia Labs and used for multi-color laser applications like holography, but we can't verify this). We have had limited uses for it.

I do know that the device works fine, and produces a series of extremely brilliant pulsed lights. By adjusting the flash speed way down, it appears to us that red, green and blue flashes occur successively. This device contains what looks like to us three very expensive light sources of different colors and a set up of various mirrors, glass plates that allow half of the light to go through and half to be reflected (half-silvered, filters?), and lenses. It has a standard SCSI connector in the back. We have no documentation on it, and we don't know the pin-out of the SCSI, but more than likely, it was for a computer hook-up. Not shown but on center of the bottom of the device is a sturdy steel plate screwed in with a threaded hole, apparently so the device could easily be mounted on a photographic tripod. It is 15.75" x 7" x 5.5".

The first image set is of a photo taken from the front while the device was operating, and photos of the front and back of the device when it was turned Off. The second image is a photo of the device taken while operating, in the dark, and with my camera flash Off. The third image set is a photo from each side of the lamp/mirror area with device Off to try to show the arrangement of the lamps and glass plates. The fourth image set is a photo top view of the device Off, and a photo top view with of the device with its cover in place.

Strobes have many uses, not the least of which is for dances and discos, for timing, for setting and determining rotational speeds and linear velocities, as a self-defense and anti-burglary device, in video, photography and holography, for special effects, for signaling and rudimentary communications, in biomedical research, and in mind control, electronic attack, brain entrainment and biofeedback research. In very good condition. Please do not stare into this light - it is very brilliant. It makes for one spectacular light show!

The Artograph Tracer Projector and enlarger is a great device for the artist, student artist, artistically-inclined, crafters and hobbyists, many others. Basically, you hang up a piece of paper on the wall (preferably white or translucent paper), for example, with pieces of masking tape on the corners. You then place the art, pattern or design item flat onto a hard flat surface large enough to fit the Artograph Projector and image enlarger. You then place the Artograph Tracer Projector on top of the item, You then turn the Autograph Tracer Projector On, and point it and enlarger towards the hanging paper. The 2X-to-14X projected image appears on the paper, which you then sharply focus by turning the black cap on front. You then trace around the enlarged projected image. You then make any changes you want to your drawing, and then you fill in your tracing with the appropriate colors while on or off the wall. The result is you can become a great artist. The Artograph Tracer Projector enlarger runs off of 120VAC. While originally designed to use a 100-watt incandescent bulb, the Artograph Tracer Projector works fine with popular fluorescent "curly-fry" bulbs that produce the same or greater light intensity at much less wattage and heat. This is great because when only incandescent bulbs were available, 100W bulbs were too hot to use the Artograph Projector on photo originals and other resin-based art or design items, but with newer cooler bulbs, discoloring or burning the item is much less likely. Also, since fluorescent bulbs produce higher frequency light, their projected images are more sharp than with incandescent bulbs. Art or design item image area is 5" x 5"and must be 2-dimensional or flat 3-dimensional (e.g. coins, jewelry, gems, insects, leaves and other biological or geological items, etc.). Originally designed to level lasers, it can also be adapted for use with some Dremel-type drills, camera lens, drill presses, milling machine, telescopes, mirrors, lenses, rifle barrels, etc. Tube has a 3/8" center hole at the top, which makes it ideal for drill presses and milling machines to access. It has a long coiled cable terminated with a RJ-45 connector (same type of connector called an "Ethernet connector"). A band on the cable has the numbers above printed on it. That is all we know. This RKI lighting fixture can swivel and tilt. These very high quality RKI Track Lights are rarely found in stores these days - only cheap and flimsy imposters. These RKI Lighting heads have a standard base, which will fit track lighting tracks sold at Home Depot and elsewhere (Hampton Bay and other brands). Base has a slide down collar; you slip the nib into the track, you then twist it 90 degrees and the collar slips up a bit and locks it into place. The track that the RKI Tracking Light Head is used with is a standard 3-wire grounded fixture (RKI track not included). The RKI Tracking Head accepts standard-base halogen bulbs. 610543 E204150 E204135 EE059F are the part numbers associated with all of these RKI Track Light heads.
