SEARCH TIPS & EQUIVALENT ELECTRONIC PARTS: Please use top-right search box (or your Browser Search / Find feature) to locate the specific Items of interest or just browse webpage. Because of huge variations in Opamp IC part #s, Opamp ICs are also listed by their base part #s, so your first search for a part should be by its base part # (e.g. LM386N for LM386) - if we sell any variation of the part #, you'll find it, then scroll down from there (the base or core part # is the number which remains after removing all prefix and suffix letters and sometimes middle letters). We listed many electronic parts by more than one name and name variation (e.g. Enter "3130" to find our CA3130, CA3130E and CA3130AE, etc. offers, and other parts which have "3130" as part of the part #). There are many equivalent ICs (e.g. LM358, NE532 and WP901), and many ICs which have the same pinouts but while not exactly equivalent can in some circuit designs substitute and even improve over the other (e.g. TL074 to replace LM324) - if you can't find your exact electronic parts, search for the part's function and functional variations (e.g. "transconductance opamp"). The 16197240-188AB731 part # is apparently a proprietary part # for which we can't locate an Online datasheet. We purchased these ICs in antistatic tubes in a sealed box from a bankrupt car stereo repair business specializing in Delco car radios sales and repairs. No one there had any info on them, so at first we was not sure what exactly they were as we know there are at least several audio power amps and voltage regulators with staggered-11 pins. However, we was recently told by customer that they are most likely TDA7256 power audio amps, Multiwatt 11 amps packaging. With the information he provided us plus the Online datasheet for the TDA7256 power audio amplifier and a digital VOM, we was able to verify that Pin #6 did indeed connect to the mounting tab and that the out-of-circuit resistances for the 2 Inputs, 2 Feedbacks, and 2 Outputs with respect to each other were of close values to each other and of the values consistent to their designed functions as per their datasheet internal schematic. This of course does not prove that they are TDA7256 ICs, but only indicates that they probably are TDA7256 or least power amps wired identical or very similar to the TDA7256. If they are TDA7256 amps, that means they are 30-Watt Bridge Car Radio Amplifiers (max ratings: 18 VDC power, 36 watt, 5.5 amps especially designed for 12-volt vehicle audio systems using 2-ohm or higher impedance speakers), rated for a bandwidth from about 22 Hz to well into the ultrasonic band (upto about 30 KHz), according to their datasheets. With the TA8184 and handful of external components, you easily control the audio Bass, Treble, Balance and Volume from 20 Hz to well within the ultrasound band for one or two channels (most other audio ICs are limited to audio band). Great for hi-fi and stereo designs as expected, but my main use of them is in the design of analog voice disguisers, subliminal mixers/amplifiers, and binaural beats devices (all of which the TA8184 is virtually unbeatable!), and for low-band ultrasonic designs, sonar designs, and lowpass, bandpass, highpass and notch filter designs.

In analog voice disguiser applications, the Bass and Treble controls are used individually or together in a single-channel or dual-channel system to contour voice or sound to sound much more high-pitched or low-pitched than what the voice normally sounds like, while sounding more natural than digital voice disguisers. When the Bass and Treble controls are used together on their far settings, substantial distortion of the voice occurs in voices and sounds rich in frequency content. The TA8184 is great for doing audio special effects works of various kinds, for adding unusual sound effects, and for producing special voices for games and magic tricks.

The TA 8184 IC is also virtually unbeatable for subliminal mixer and amplifier applications. One channel is used for the main audio, and the other channel is used for the much less volume subliminal audio (or low-band subliminal ultrasound), both TA8184 channel outputs are then sent to the mixer stage (usually consists of a differential amplifier (not included) to produce the composite signal output). Since changes in the Treble Control, Bass Control and Volume Control are equal in direction and degree for both main audio and subliminal channels, the subliminal signal always tracks in the same tone and volume direction and degree as the main audio, thereby the subliminal audio remaining much better hidden in the composite signal regardless of changes in Bass, Treble or Volume by the user. And for subliminal applications, the Balance Control is especially nice in controlling the relative percentages of main audio and subliminal audio in the composite signal, thereby allowing you to carefully adjust the Balance Control so that the subliminal signal remains just below conscious threshhold through a wide-range of relative differences in main audio and subliminal audio input volumes.

The TA8184 IC is the binaural beats IC. Low power supply (PS) voltage, low standby power.

Next to the LM555, we use this very versatile IC the most. Why? While most op amps get a little crazy below about 6 VDC PS - forcing you to use either a bulky 4 cells or a 9-volt battery - the nifty LM358 operational amplifier easily operates down to 3 VDC PS (I've used them below 2.5 VDC). The LM358 does great with only two AAA batteries, or a watch battery! Not only that, but the LM358 will operate from single and dual power supplies. Gain and bandwidth are very good: Gain upto 100 db, and unity BW at 1 MHz! And low offset and low bias! You can hardly ask for better! we 've used them from about 0.1 Hz, through the entire audio band, and deep into the ultrasonic band.

And we find them especially useful if you must combine an op amp section with TTL, memory or data conversion logic (e.g. A/D, D/A) - requiring only one 5 VDC PS for all circuit functions. One LM358 amp section can be used for input amplification/gain control, and the other section for output amp/gain (particularly useful in digitizing audio and transducer signals applications), or cascaded with each other. If you need more power, you easily add on a transistor to the output. You can build a practical LM358 circuit about the size of a stack of 4 quarters! Versatile and easy-to-use - great for all kinds of circuit jobs you have, including class and science fair projects, and learning tool for electronics.

This proprietary-marked IC is equivalent to the very popular, versatile and useful LM358, NE532, LM2904 and NTE928 (see Signetics (now Philips) "Linear Data Manual Industrial," Vol. 2) in both specs and pin-out, which we have personally verified through my own electronics lab testing. Low power supply (PS) voltage, low standby power.

Because this analog IC is apparently marked with a proprietary number, it very much prevents reverse-engineering attempts on your designs, and certainly beats tedious, risky and/or insecure painting over or grinding off IC part numbers.

Next to the LM555, we use this very versatile IC-type the most. Why? While most op amps get a little crazy below about 6 VDC PS - forcing you to use either a bulky 4 cells or a 9-volt battery - the nifty WP901 easily operates down to 3 VDC PS (I've used them below 2.5 VDC). The WP901 does great with only two AAA batteries, or a 3.0V watch battery! Not only that, but the WP901 will operate from single and dual power supplies. Gain and bandwidth are very good: Gain upto 100 db, and unity BW at 1 MHz, which results in good quality output in the treble and lower ultrasonic (including sonar) bands! And low offset and low bias! You can hardly ask for better! we 've used them from about 0.1 Hz, through the entire audio band, and deep into the ultrasonic band (sonar band).

And we find them especially useful if you must combine an op amp section with TTL, memory or data conversion logic (e.g. A/D, D/A) - requiring only one 5 VDC PS for all circuit functions. One WP901 amp section can be used for input amplification/gain control, and the other section for output amp/gain (particularly useful in digitizing audio and transducer signals applications), or cascaded with each other. If you need more power, you easily add on a transistor to the output. You can build a practical WP901 circuit about the size of a stack of 4 quarters! New old stock (NOS), DIP/DIL ICs. These highly versatile and compact boost voltage regulator / step-up voltage regulator / boost DC/DC converter / step-up DC/DC converter ICs are very useful. These wide-voltage-range voltage-doubler DC-to-DC converters double the 1.5V - 20.0V input DC voltages to 2.68V - 40.0V output DC voltages (output VDC is slightly less than double input voltages for less than 10VDC input). From our measurements (tested with a 1K ohm output load resistor): 1.5VDC input => 2.68VDC (3 VDC nominal) output, 3.0VDC => 5.62VDC (6 VDC nominal), 5.0VDC => 9.56VDC (10 VDC nominal), 6.0VDC => 11.62VDC (12 VDC nominal), 9.0VDC => 17.8VDC (18 VDC nominal), 10VDC => 20VDC, 12VDC => 24VDC, 15VDC => 30VDC, 18VDC => 36VDC, 20VDC => 40VDC. Note that 20VDC input voltage was highest voltage we use them for continuous use, both higher input and output voltages were achieved in short-term tests and may also be OK for continuous use. Output continuous power rating tested by us was 2 watts (enough to power several ICs). 1.5VDC => 2.7VDC means that with one AAA, AA, C, D, Nicad, Lithium-ion cell battery you can power low voltage ICs (e.g. LM358, NE532, WP901) without using an expensive and limited LM3909. 5.0VDC => 9.6 VDC means you can use a 5VDC power supply (e.g. TTL power supply) to also power 40xxx CMOS and other higher voltage ICs and transistors. Furthermore, by using two of these boost voltage regulators, you can produce 4X +V or -V output voltages or 2X ±V output voltages to within 1% of each other (inputs wired in parallel, outputs wired in series). These versatile and compact boost DC voltage regulators/converters replace our previous need to maintain a stock of dozen typical DC boost voltage regulators/converters with each type strictly limited to specific voltages.

These voltage-doubler boost DC/DC converters are about the same length and width of a 24-pin DIP IC and about 1/2" thick. They are each made with 23 pins total (0.1" apart; 1 pin omitted by its maker), of which only 4 pin pairs are used - 1 pair on one end and 3 pair on other end (the rest of the pins test open-circuit and have no known function, we usually clip them off). Each opposite sets of pins are identical (e.g. pins 1 and 24 are same, pins 10 and 15 are same, pins 11 and 14 are same, pins 12 and 13 are same), so if you wish you can actually install this IC on either of its sides as a SIP. Since the input and output pins are at the ends of the IC, you can mount other parts, preferably on backside of your circuit board (e.g. a DIP IC of 16 total pins fits perfectly) easily inside the footprint of the DC-to-DC boost converter IC). The DIP pins on these boost converter ICs extend 3/16" below the body and there is recessed area the general size and shape of a 16-pin DIP IC on the underside center; you can also conceal another thin IC(s) and/or other thin electronic parts underneath the DC boost converter IC's body (consider heat dissipation issues when doing this) to hide some of your circuitry from reverse engineering.

AMPLIFIER APPLICATIONS: Since the DC/DC boost converter IC's input and output pins are electrically isolated from each other, you can also use these step-up DC converters for isolation applications and to eliminate noisy ground loops and 50 Hz / 60 Hz and RFI interferences. No doubt they contain a built-in transformer to provide this isolation, which means that the device must chop-up the DC voltage to a frequency which the transformer will work at. We have found that these ICs are not limited to DC inputs, but will also boost low-frequency AC inputs upto 10 Hz like a constant gain opamp (with no feedback). Consequently, we find these boost converter ICs very useful as low-pass filters and low-frequency DC-coupled, gain=2 amplifiers (i.e. "G=2 opamps") - especially useful for some transducers and sensors and infrasonic applications. Because these ICs are essentially chopper amplifiers, you won't likely need a fresnel lens or rotating fan for thermal sensor applications. Since its upper frequency is about 10 Hz, it is very immune to 50Hz / 60Hz interference as well as RFI. So if you also need isolated, DC-coupled, chopper amplifier-type, gain=2 amplifiers, these ICs may be ideal for you.

We do not know what the actual specs are for these unmarked and unknown ICs, so we identify them with our own proprietary markings in our designs (protects our designs from reverse engineering). And because we cannot identify their actual part #, we cannot guarantee their specs - we can say that we have used them for various applications described herein and they have always worked fine. These types also have a high output impedance, and their transconductance (gM) is directly proportion to the amplifier bias current (IABC). The slew rate is very high - 50V/µs (rated for 2 MHz) - making them especially applicable for multiplexer applications because power is consumed only when the devices are in the ON channel state. The CA3080 characteristics are specifically controlled for applications such as sample-and-hold, gain-control, and multiplexing, and they also do well in multiplier, comparator and voltage-follower applications.
